Design Ideas
The average British bathroom is notoriously small, so storage and space-saving ideas are key. If your bathroom is going to be a practical as well as a beautiful, tranquil haven, it is ideal if you can tuck away behind bathroom furniture all of your toiletries, towels and cleaning products and keep surfaces uncluttered.
The first decision you need to make is do you want a traditional or a modern look? Your bathroom furniture choice should complement your choice of sanitary ware, so think carefully what overall feel you want to create. Why not take a leaf out of the professional designers’ book and create a ‘mood board’. Use tear sheets from magazines to build up a portfolio of colour, style, materials and countertop finishes to make a montage or an overall impression of your desired room.
For inspiration, take a look at our Lifestyle Gallery on our dedicated bathroom design guide web site, or the photo gallery attached to this site.
Next consider the size of your room. Is it small or large? Is there plenty of natural light? Is there any ugly pipework that needs to be disguised behind bathroom furniture? All of these factors will need to be taken into account in your design.
